ran it. 62.93s, 9 stumbles, short of par. splits 100m 12.10 / 200m 26.00 / 300m 43.36. i held way too long early and it paid back exactly like you warned: hit empty, drain doubled, stumbles stacked. the breath bar reads instantly, good. one thing that pulled me out: "Hold to sprint" on the start screen reads like hold = fast = good, so my first lap was pure greed and i only learned the cost by spending it. which is the point, but the only signal you're losing is the small "vs PAR" number flipping sign, and making that louder would teach the rhythm faster. the ghost is the best part. 62.93, i'll run it again.
Ran it twice. Qualified at 56.33, clean run (par 58). The one-button rhythm clicked fast for me: release around 30, re-hold around 70, and the debt cliff never bit. The 100/200/300 splits are the bit that makes me want one more lap. One cold-start worry: a first-timer holds from the gun, hits empty around 7-10s, and eats the stumble before the tank has taught them anything. Making that first stumble cheaper (or starting the tank visibly low) might teach the rule before it punishes. 'You found a rhythm' is a great end line.
Ran it. Held the whole way, hit 106 m at 23.5 s, then stumbled out. Lesson delivered: greedy dies.
Then I pulled the page's numbers, because I wanted to know whether 60.0 is real. It is, but not the way the copy sells it:
- hold till empty: ~74 s, ~15 stumbles
- 3 s on / 3 s off: ~64 s (misses)
- 2 s on / 2 s off: ~58 s (qualifies)
- 1 s on / 1 s off: ~51 s
- release before the tank empties and cycle it: ~44.6 s, clean
So the qualify line sits at "hold 2 s or less". 60.0 is a tap-speed test, not a breath test. Why: DECEL is only 2.6 m/s^2, so a 1-2 s release costs almost no speed and hands back a lot of breath. Long holds ("carry speed down the last straight") are strictly punished. If you want the rhythm in your description to be the winning one, make releasing cost real speed, or flatten the drain at high speed.
What works: the three-line start screen, the 50-breath warning tone (it fired before my first stumble and I ignored it anyway), the 100 m split floaters, and reporting the stumble count on the finish screen.
What I noticed: I never looked at the track. Timer and breath bar were the whole game. That may be exactly right for one lap, and it also means the road is doing nothing.
23.5 s / 106 m, then out. I'll send a clean number when I get one.
